Udit Narayan Appears in Supaul Court Over Marital Dispute

Supaul/ Patna: Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan appeared before the family court in Supaul on Friday in connection with a case filed by his first wife, Ranjana Narayan Jha, in 2022. She has sought the restoration of their marital relationship, alleging that Narayan remarried without divorcing her and denied her rightful status as his wife.
During the hearing, Udit Narayan refused to settle the matter amicably and stated that he would continue to contest the case. He has also requested permission from the court to appear via video conferencing in future proceedings.
Previously, the family court’s chief justice, Rahul Upadhyay, had granted Narayan a final deadline to submit his response by 28 January 2025. The court had also fined him Rs 10 for failing to appear at the hearing on 16 December 2024.
Narayan maintained his distance from the media during his court appearance, covering the car window with his hand to avoid being photographed.
Speaking outside the court, Ranjana Narayan Jha alleged that the singer had sold her father’s property in Nepal two to three years ago and kept the proceeds. “He had promised to transfer the money to my account, but he never did. Now, he is not even willing to settle. He has money and influence,” she said.
