An unidentified man died by suicide after being struck by a train near Tekni Halt in Bihar’s Banka district, marking the second such incident at the location within a week.

Banka: A young man has died after being struck by a train in an apparent suicide near Tekni Halt on the Bhagalpur–Mandarhill railway section in Bihar’s Banka district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the Banka Intercity Express was approaching the halt. According to railway officials, the man was seen standing close to the tracks before placing his head directly in the path of the oncoming train. The locomotive driver reportedly applied emergency brakes but was unable to stop the train in time. The man died at the scene.

The incident caused a brief disruption to train services. Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers and local police, led by Additional Station House Officer Ravi Kumar, arrived at the site shortly after being informed. The body was removed and sent for postmortem to Banka Sadar Hospital.

Authorities have so far been unable to identify the deceased, and investigations are ongoing. Local residents were questioned, but no one was able to provide details about the victim’s identity.

This is the second such incident reported at the same location within a week. In the earlier case, the deceased was later identified as Rupesh Yadav, a resident of Dayalpur village.
