Union Minister Manjhi Cites Revealing Attire as Reason for Skipping Ambani Wedding
Patna: Anant Ambani, son of industrial magnate Mukesh Ambani, married Radhika Merchant on July 12 in a ceremony attended by luminaries from Bollywood, Hollywood, and the political sphere. Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the blessing ceremony on the second day, July 13.
Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad attended the wedding with his family. However, another former CM, Jitan Ram Manjhi, cited reasons for his absence. Manjhi criticized the event, describing it as overly ostentatious and citing the revealing attire of some attendees. He stated, “Our family could not attend such a place. We could not adjust.”
Speaking to the media in Jehanabad on Sunday, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi elaborated on his decision. When asked by journalists why he skipped the wedding, despite receiving an invitation, Manjhi explained, “We are from a modest background. At the reception, everyone was in fancy dress, with parts of their bodies visible. We couldn’t bring our daughters and daughters-in-law to such an environment.”
Manjhi further commented on the fashion at the event, saying, “The kind of suits and pants people wear there, we wouldn’t be able to move comfortably.” He chose to send his best wishes separately, feeling it inappropriate to attend due to the cultural differences.
The wedding, one of the most high-profile and extravagant in the country, saw the attendance of numerous prominent figures from politics, society, film, and cricket. Lalu and his entire family were present, as was Chirag Paswan, who attended with his mother.
