Weather Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms Likely in 12 Bihar Districts; Patna May See Light Showers

Thunderstorms, Rain and Gusty Winds Likely in Parts of Bihar From April 7–10

Patna: The weather across Bihar is expected to remain unstable over the next few days due to the influence of multiple weather systems in and around the region, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

A low-pressure area, coupled with cyclonic circulation, has formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal. Simultaneously, a trough extends from northeast Madhya Pradesh to Bangladesh via Jharkhand. Additionally, air circulation has developed in and around northeast Assam. These combined systems are likely to trigger weather fluctuations across the state.

Yellow Alert Issued for 12 Districts

The Meteorological Centre in Patna has issued a yellow alert for 12 districts—Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Saharsa, Madhepura, Khagaria, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, and Banka—for the next 24 hours. These areas may witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h.

Light Showers Expected in Patna

While the capital city is not under the yellow alert zone, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of Patna and its surroundings. The IMD has forecast cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms. However, no major fluctuation in temperature is anticipated over the next three to four days.
