Weather Update: Rain Likely in Six Bihar Districts on March 8, Temperature Fluctuations Continue

Patna: The weather in Bihar is expected to remain dry due to the dominance of westerly winds. However, a western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayas on March 8 and 9, bringing a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in some parts of the state.

Rain Alert in Six Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, and Jamui. These districts may experience light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 km per hour on March 8.

Temperature Variations Across the State

Cloudy weather and cold winds are expected to cause a drop in temperatures across Bihar, including Patna. On Thursday, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 26.6°C, which is three degrees below normal. The hottest city in the state was Aurangabad, where the temperature reached 29.8°C.

Weather Fluctuations and Health Concerns

The sudden drop in temperature and fluctuating weather conditions may lead to an increase in seasonal illnesses, especially affecting children and the elderly. With Holi approaching on March 15, the maximum temperature is expected to rise by 7°C over the next week, possibly crossing 34°C. The weather will likely turn warmer as the festival nears.
