Patna: The extended national executive meeting of the Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI) convened on Saturday at Hotel Umbrella in Patna, with major decisions taken regarding restructuring, expansion, and upcoming events.
Chaired by National President Anand Kaushal and conducted by General Secretary Dr Amit Ranjan, the session confirmed previous agenda items and reviewed key achievements of the organisation. Treasurer Manjesh Kumar presented a financial report covering the current and upcoming fiscal years.
In a unanimous move, the Bihar state and all district units of the WJAI were dissolved. A new membership campaign is to be launched across Bihar, with fresh committees to be formed. Bihar in-charge Madhup Mani Pikku will oversee this process, supported by Manokamna Singh (convener), Naman Mishra (co-convener), and Raju Narayan Pathak (coordinator).
The meeting also outlined a strategic push to strengthen coordination with other state units and establish committees in regions currently lacking representation.
A two-day celebration marking the organisation’s Foundation Day is scheduled for the last week of December, with a separate national executive meeting set to finalise dates for internal elections later this year. The Delhi State Unit’s event proposal for July–August was also approved.
Addressing the gathering, Kaushal reaffirmed WJAI’s role as the largest self-regulatory body for web media in the country, registered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). “Our goal remains to secure national recognition for web journalism while upholding independent and unbiased reporting,” he said.
Dr Ranjan echoed the sentiment, urging members to adhere strictly to the association’s code of conduct and MIB guidelines. “We are being heard at the highest levels, and we must uphold journalistic integrity,” he said.
Senior members present at the meeting included Vice President Dr Leena, Secretaries Chandan Kumar, Vivek Kumar Yadav and Madhup Mani Pikku, Treasurer Manjesh Kumar, Joint Secretaries Mithilesh Mishra and Nalini Bhardwaj, Office Secretary Akbar Imam, Co-Treasurer Manokamna Singh, and Co-Office Secretary Ram Balak Rai, among others.
