New Delhi/Patna: As the Monsoon Session of Parliament brings together national leaders in Delhi, the capital will also witness a major gathering of web and digital journalists. The Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI), the country’s largest organisation representing digital media professionals, is set to host a mega seminar-cum-convention titled “The Future of Web and Digital Journalists” in the last week of July.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Delhi-NCR chapter held at the Sector 62 office in Noida, under the leadership of chapter president Pankaj Prasun. The event aims to discuss key demands including a central health insurance scheme of Rs 10 lakh for journalists, a pension plan for digital media professionals, legal and safety support, and provision of land at concessional rates for journalists.
A dedicated session on how web journalists can generate greater revenue through digital marketing tools will also be part of the programme.
General Secretary Imran Khan said that the event will be organised on a large scale and will feature participation from Union ministers, Members of Parliament, and renowned media figures. Vice President Roshan Srivastava mentioned that details about the venue and date will be shared soon.
The preparations are being made under the guidance of WJAI National President Anand Kaushal. The chapter has also proposed that the National Committee meeting be held during this event.
