Woman Thrown from Moving Train During Mobile Snatching on Ara-Sasaram Route

Ara: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old woman was thrown from a moving train by unidentified miscreants during a mobile phone snatching attempt on the Ara-Sasaram railway route on Sunday. The victim, Tanu Kumari, sustained serious injuries to her head, chest, and back and is currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, Ara.
An FIR has been registered at the Ara Railway Police Station based on the statement of her brother, Shashi Ranjan Kumar, who was accompanying her. Tanu, a resident of Fatehpur village under Piro police station limits, had boarded the Sasaram-Patna passenger train from Piro station and was headed to Ara to collect homeopathic medicine.
According to Shashi Ranjan, the incident took place near the western overbridge, shortly before the train reached Ara station. “The miscreants first tried to snatch her mobile phone. When they couldn’t succeed, one of them pushed her off the moving train while the other fled with her phone,” he told police.
Tanu reportedly lay injured on the tracks for around 20 minutes before local residents alerted emergency services. A Dial-112 police team reached the spot and rushed her to Sadar Hospital for medical attention.
Following the incident, Patna Railway SP Amritendu Shekhar and Senior DSP Prashant Kumar visited the hospital to check on the victim’s condition and assured strict action against the culprits. The officers also spoke to the family and recorded their account of the incident.
Railway Police are currently analyzing CCTV footage and using technical inputs to identify the attackers. Multiple raids are underway, and a few suspects are being interrogated, according to police sources.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns about passenger safety on trains and the need for stronger policing, especially on vulnerable rail routes like Ara-Sasaram.
