Patna : Construction of Patna Metro is progressing rapidly, with authorities setting an ambitious target to begin operations by August 15. In a decisive move to ensure the project stays on schedule, District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh chaired a high-level meeting of the Project Monitoring Group on Saturday, where over 30 development projects were reviewed.

The DM announced that work on Khemnichak metro station will commence on April 2, and officials have been instructed to submit a traffic diversion plan for Zero Mile to facilitate smooth movement during construction.

Crackdown on Delays and Compliance Monitoring

During the meeting, Dr Singh directed the representatives of the construction agency to adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and expedite the projects by maintaining close coordination with concerned officials. He ordered the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) to closely monitor the work. In a show of accountability, the DM took action against the Executive Engineer of Path Nirman, who was absent from the meeting, by halting his salary and issuing a show cause notice..

Focus on Bihta Airport and Danapur-Bihta Corridor

Attention was also given to the Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor, where delays have been reported. The owner of an IOCL petrol pump in Badi Khagaul has been directed to relocate the facility within four days to clear the way for construction. Instructions were issued to remove structures obstructing the road alignment in Mahadev Phulari and complete the land survey of the remaining Bakasht land within ten days.

Additionally, the DM instructed the evaluation of boundaries for key institutions in Bihta, including the NDRF, ESI Hospital, SIB, and Power Grid, in collaboration with engineers from the Building Construction Department. Plans are also underway to construct a rotary connecting Bihta Airport to the Danapur-Bihta corridor, with officials from the Bihta Airport Authority directed to attend the next project monitoring meeting.
