Workshop on AI & Data Science Applications in Transportation Engineering Held at IIT Patna

Patna: The Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Patna, in partnership with CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), organized a one-day workshop on “Applications of AI & Data Science in Transportation Engineering” on Friday. The event saw the participation of over 140 individuals from both academic and industrial backgrounds, highlighting the growing interest in the integration of technology within transportation systems.
Key guests at the workshop included the Managing Director of BSRDC Ltd., and the Director of CRRI, who contributed to discussions on the evolving role of AI and data science in the field. The workshop was led by Dr. Amit Kumar Verma, Head of Civil Engineering at IIT Patna, and coordinated by Dr. Bachu Anilkumar. It was supported by various sponsors, including RWD, BSRDC, Bihar shariff Smart City Ltd., and COACTS Pvt. Ltd.
The event attracted representatives from prominent institutions and government bodies, with speakers addressing a range of topics from AI applications in traffic management to smart city innovations. A notable presentation focused on AI tools for predicting the performance of bituminous mixes and the implementation of Intelligent Traffic Management Systems in Bihar shariff.
Participants engaged in discussions on the transformative impact of AI and data science on transportation infrastructure, vehicle safety, and maintenance strategies. The workshop provided a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, emphasizing the potential of these technologies to revolutionize transportation engineering.
