Yellow Alert for Fog in 15 Bihar Districts; Cold to Intensify After February 1
Patna: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for dense fog in 15 districts of Bihar on Thursday, while the remaining 23 districts are expected to experience normal weather conditions. Westerly winds sweeping across the state have intensified the chill, particularly during nighttime.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, cold conditions are likely to intensify again after February 1. However, no significant change in temperature is expected over the next two days. A slight rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures may provide temporary relief from the cold.
SK Patel, a scientist at the Meteorological Centre, said: “This winter, the cold in November and December was not as severe as expected. Even the first week of January saw little change in weather conditions. Since the cold arrived late this year, it is likely to persist for longer. The chill is expected to extend into February.”
Patel added that a western disturbance is likely to cause cloudy conditions across most parts of Bihar in the first week of February. “This will lead to a drop in minimum temperatures, making the cold feel more intense,” he said.
