Vaishali/Patna: A pall of grief descended on Mahua Bazaar in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Thursday morning after a tragic road accident claimed the life of Dr Prince Kumar, a popular young doctor in the region.
The accident occurred near Jhapahan village when Dr Kumar was travelling from Sitamarhi to Mokama for duty, accompanied by his wife, young son, and driver. A milk tanker collided head-on with their car, leading to Dr Kumar’s death on the spot. The impact of the crash left the other three occupants—his wife, son and driver—critically injured.
Local residents rushed to the scene and helped shift the injured to the nearest hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have described their condition as serious and continue to monitor their recovery closely.
Dr Kumar, the middle son of local gold trader Vijay Gupta, was admired for his medical service and community spirit. News of his untimely death spread rapidly, drawing hundreds of grieving residents to his ancestral home. The atmosphere at Mahua Bazaar was sombre, with shops downing shutters and locals gathering in large numbers to offer condolences.
The district administration has launched an investigation into the accident, and efforts are underway to trace the driver of the milk tanker, who fled the scene after the collision.
