Aurangabad/Patna: A 20-year-old man named Deepak Kumar was shot in Aurangabad, Bihar, on Saturday after being chased by two men on a bike for nearly one kilometre. The incident happened near Mahip Bigha in the Navinagar police station area. Deepak was returning home after buying vegetables when he stopped at a shop to purchase coriander powder. It was there that one of the criminals walked up and shot him.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV. The video shows Deepak standing at the shop with a girl nearby when the attacker approached and fired a bullet. Deepak was hit in the arm and fell to the ground. The two men then fled the scene on their bike. Locals quickly gathered and rushed the injured youth to Magadh Multi Specialty Hospital in Nabinagar. From there, doctors referred him to Narayana Medical College and Hospital in Jamuhar for better treatment.
Police reached the spot soon after the incident. Traffic DSP Manoj Kumar, Circle Inspector Ranjit Kumar, and Station Incharge Mrityunjay Upadhyay are leading the investigation. Officers have collected CCTV footage from the area and say the attacker’s identity is being confirmed. Deepak, while in critical condition, was able to name the suspects involved. Police are now conducting raids to find and arrest the accused.
The reason behind the shooting is still unclear, but locals believe it may be due to an old dispute between the two sides. Some say there had been a past fight, and this attack could be linked to that. Police are looking into all possible angles and have promised to catch the attackers soon.
