Young Woman Found Dead in Bajaj Micro Finance Office in Darbhanga; Suicide Suspected

Janvi murder darbhanga

Darbhanga: A 25-year-old woman was found dead in the office of Bajaj Micro Finance located in a rented house on Barheta Road, Basera Colony, under the jurisdiction of Bahadurpur Police Station, on Wednesday. The woman, identified as Janvi Kumari, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in what police suspect to be a case of suicide.

Janvi, a resident of Bekna village under Akbarpur police station in Purnia district, had been working at the microfinance office for the past one year. The office itself had been operating from the private residence of Jagannath Jha for about one and a half years.

According to other staff members, Janvi had arrived at the office as usual around 8 am and appeared to be in a normal state of mind. “She was talking normally and did not appear worried,” said one employee. The incident occurred when other staff members left the office for market-related work, leaving her alone inside.

The landlord, Rajiv Kumar, said he was informed about the incident by Ramdulari, a cleaning staff member, who discovered Janvi’s body. He immediately alerted the police. Upon receiving the report, Bahadurpur police and SDPO Sadar Amit Kumar rushed to the scene.

According to field staff Aatish Kumar, who was working outside at the time, he attempted to break open the front door upon returning, but when unsuccessful, he forced open the back door in the presence of the police.

“No signs of forced entry or external pressure have been observed so far. Janvi’s behavior on the day was normal and there were no visible signs of distress,” SDPO Amit Kumar told reporters. “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide. However, we are investigating the matter from all angles.”

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also been called in for a detailed investigation, and samples are being collected from the scene. Janvi’s family has been informed, and police are awaiting further information before drawing conclusions.
