Patna: The Tourism Department of Bihar, led by Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra, provided approval letters to four investors under the new tourism policy at the Business Connect 2024 event held at Gyan Bhawan. The investors will receive up to 30 percent capital subsidy as part of the state’s initiative to boost tourism.
Approval letters were granted for four projects: Hemant Kumar Singh’s Eastern Grace four-star hotel in Buxar with an investment of Rs. 20.05 crore, Jitendra Kumar’s four-star Lemon Tree hotel in Motihari costing Rs. 15.09 crore, Ramanuj Resort Private Limited’s resort in Phulwarisharif valued at Rs. 12.28 crore, and AS Enterprises’ way-side amenities project in Rohtas with an investment of Rs. 4.25 crore.
The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Bihar into a major tourist destination by enhancing infrastructure, cleanliness, and transport facilities at tourist locations. He also highlighted the attractive investment opportunities provided under the new tourism policy and encouraged more investors to take advantage of the benefits.
Tourism Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh stated that the department is offering substantial capital subsidies on relatively small investments in the sector. He noted that the policy ensures direct subsidies of up to 30 percent and provides hassle-free processes along with interest support on loans.
BSTDC Managing Director Nand Kishore shared that over 8 crore tourists visited Bihar last year, including a significant number of foreign tourists. He added that initiatives to improve religious and eco-tourism circuits are underway, and the Union Budget includes provisions for developing new tourist infrastructure in Bihar. Upcoming projects include enhancements to Matsyagandha Lake in Saharsa district and Durgawati Reservoir in Rohtas.
Tourism Director Vinay Kumar Rai concluded the event by extending gratitude to the attendees and reiterating the department’s focus on fostering growth in the tourism sector.
