Patna: As Diwali festivities commence, the Health Department has placed all major government hospitals, including AIIMS Patna, PMCH, NMCH, IGIMS, and New Gardiner Road Hospital, on high alert for the next 24 hours. The move aims to prepare for any untoward incidents, with reserved beds and canceled leaves for doctors and paramedical staff.
In case of emergencies, additional doctors are deployed, with a focus on treating patients affected by firecrackers. OPD facilities will remain closed today, but emergency treatment will be available. PMCH, equipped with the largest burn ward and Plastic Surgery department, will have two plastic surgeons on duty 24/7.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Shravan Kumar emphasized the need for ambulance readiness, providing emergency contact numbers, including those for the Disaster Management Department. The tight security measures include police deployment, magistrates stationed at key locations, and restrictions on loudspeakers around schools and hospitals.
Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra assured intensive patrolling, CCTV surveillance, and additional police officers to ensure a safe Diwali. A total of 200 fire brigade personnel, 80 fire engines, and 20 reserve vehicles are strategically positioned across the city, focusing on key areas such as Boring Road, Rajabazar, Kurji Mor, and more. As the city gears up for the festival of lights, authorities are determined to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
