62 IPS Officers Transferred in Bihar: Avkash Kumar Appointed Patna SSP
Patna: Patna has a new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) as IPS officer Avkash Kumar has been posted to the role.
Kumar, a 2012 batch IPS officer originally from Bhojpur, holds a degree in mechanical engineering from IIT BHU and previously worked as a scientist at DRDO for four years. He has served in various capacities, including Rural SP in Gaya, SP in Ara and Begusarai, and SSP in Darbhanga.
In addition to Avkash Kumar’s appointment, there have been several significant changes within the Bihar Police. Rajiv Mishra has been named Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), while Vikram Sihag has been appointed Rural SP of Patna. K Ramdas takes over as City SP of Patna East, replacing Shubhank Mishra, who has been reassigned as City SP in Bhagalpur.
Other high-level reshuffles include:
- Kundan Krishnan: Additional charge of the Special Task Force (STF).
- Amit Kumar Jain: Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Vulnerable Classes.
- Amrit Raj: ADG of Police Security, Bihar Patna.
- Shalini: Inspector General (IG) of Police, Anti-Terrorism System, with additional charge of Police Security.
- Rakesh Rathi: IG of Police, Economic Offenses Unit, with responsibility for Technical Services and Communication.
- Rajesh Kumar: IG of Police, Bihar Human Rights Commission, Patna.
- Vinay Kumar: IG of Police Operations, STF, with additional charge of Police Headquarters.
- Ranjit Kumar: IG of Police, Bihar Special Armed Police, Patna.
- Sanjay Kumar: DIG (Cyber Crime), Economic Offenses Unit.
- Vikas Kumar: DIG, Special Surveillance Unit, Bihar Patna.
These appointments are seen as part of a broader effort to strengthen law enforcement and improve governance in the state.
