Patna: MP Pappu Yadav spearheaded a statewide Bihar Bandh in solidarity with students demanding the cancellation of the BPSC 70th Preliminary Test (PT) exam, alleging widespread paper leaks and irregularities. Early in the morning, Pappu Yadav and his supporters staged a demonstration at Secretariat Halt in Patna, blocking railway tracks and halting train services. Patna Police removed the protesters from the tracks, but Pappu Yadav vowed to continue the agitation, declaring he was ready to face lathi charges and bullets for the students.
He stated his determination to fight for the students’ future, promising to take the matter from the streets to the Supreme Court if the exam is not cancelled. He revealed discussions with Kapil Sibal for legal intervention and called the paper leak issue one of the most critical problems in Bihar. Emphasizing a peaceful protest, he drew parallels with the farmers’ movement and the Mandal Commission struggle, stating the movement would persist until justice was served.
The bandh caused disruptions across the state, with Pappu Yadav’s supporters blocking National Highways, including NH 31, and stopping buses. Protests erupted in various districts, with demonstrators chanting slogans against the Nitish Kumar-led government and demanding the complete cancellation of the BPSC 70th PT exam. They accused the administration of police brutality, including lathi charges on protesting students.
Prominent supporters like Premchand Singh, Rajesh Pappu, Abhijeet Singh, Raju Danveer, Manish, and Nitish Singh joined the demonstrations, expressing their determination to fight until the students receive justice. Protesters warned of continued agitation if their demands are not met, declaring that the fight for a fair examination process will not end until the BPSC takes decisive action.
