Patna: The city of Patna resonated with prayers and cultural fervor as residents came together to mark the joyous occasion of Chitragupta Puja, an annual Hindu festival venerating Lord Chitragupta, the deity of justice and companion to Lord Yama.
Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, joined the celebrations at Gardnibagh Thakurbari, where he offered prayers to Lord Chitragupta and expressed his aspirations for the state’s development. Extending his wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity, members of the Gardanibagh Thakurbari Chitragupt Puja Committee presented the Chief Minister with Angavastra, and a ‘Kayastha Encyclopedia’ authored by retired IPS officer Uday Sahay.
In the Radha Krishna Colony in Beur area, the festivities unfolded with enthusiasm as the close-knit community embarked on a day filled with rituals and cultural revelry in honor of Chitragupta Puja.
Commencing their celebrations at the local Chitragupta Temple, the community engaged in various rituals, with devotees gathering in substantial numbers to offer prayers and seek blessings for prosperity and good fortune. Led by local priests, special pujas and aartis imbued the atmosphere with spirituality and devotion. Families actively participated, presenting their handwritten ledgers and account books, symbolizing the meticulous record-keeping associated with Chitragupta Puja.
The revelry continued with cultural programs organized by the community, highlighting the rich heritage of dance and music. Adorned in traditional attire, children captivated onlookers with performances depicting stories related to Lord Chitragupta, infusing the festivities with a cultural charm.
