18-Hour Traffic Jam in Bihta, Sand-Laden Trucks Block Roads
Patna: A massive traffic jam has gripped Bihta in Patna district for the past 18 hours, causing severe inconvenience to commuters. Long queues of sand-laden trucks have formed on the Bihta-Aurangabad road and Bihta-Patna-Ara road, leaving school children, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles stranded. Businesses in the area have also taken a hit due to the disruption in transportation.
Dharmnath Kumar, a truck driver, stated that he has been stuck in the queue since 7 pm after loading sand from Paliganj. He was on his way to Hajipur but has been unable to move due to the jam. Similarly, Santosh Kumar, a car driver traveling from Ara to Patna, expressed frustration over being stuck for hours, calling the situation a recurring issue.
Bihta SHO Rajkumar Pandey explained that vehicles carrying sand from Ara and Chapra are being stopped, leading to the persistent congestion. Police efforts are underway to manage the situation, with small vehicles being diverted to alternative routes. However, despite the continuous efforts of the local traffic police and administration, the jam remains unresolved.
The primary causes of the jam include delays in releasing sand trucks from Bhojpur and Chapra, as well as ongoing road construction projects. Babura Bazar in Bhojpur and the Danapur-Bihta elevated road are currently under construction, further compounding the traffic woes. Trucks carrying sand from Chapra are also not being released on time, exacerbating the problem on the Bihta-Ara-Patna main road.
