Motihari to Get a New Stadium as CM Nitish Kumar Approves Project
Motihari: A new indoor and outdoor stadium is set to be constructed in Motihari under the Chief Minister Sports Development Scheme, bringing good news for the youth of East Champaran. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved the project to be built in Gopi Chapra Panchayat, adjacent to Bhagwatiya Middle School, Kotwa block.
Funding and Approval
The government has allocated ₹3.29 crore for the construction of the stadium, which will be developed by Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited, Patna. The district administration, led by District Magistrate Saurabh Jorwal and DDC Shambhu Sharan Pandey, recently inspected the land and approved the site for the project.
This decision follows a request submitted months ago by local sports enthusiasts, urging the government to build a stadium in the district. The proposal was reviewed and forwarded by the DM and the Executive Engineer of the Building Division. Subsequently, the Department of Sports granted approval for the project, which falls under the Chief Minister Sports Development Scheme.
Execution and Timeline
The stadium’s construction will adhere to a pre-approved model design and budget set by the Building Department. The Bihar State Building Construction Corporation Limited has been tasked with ensuring high-quality construction, with a mandate to submit the completion report to the Sports Department and Building Department in Patna upon finalization.
Additionally, the construction agency has been directed to hand over the stadium to the DM within a week of its completion. The project includes provisions for landscaping and beautification of a nearby pond, aligning with local development plans.
