Bihar Government Approves Rs. 29.04 Crore for Development of Vaishali Pushkarni Pond

Vaishali: The Tourism Department of Bihar has approved Rs. 29.04 crore for the development of Vaishali Pushkarni pond. Administrative approval for Rs. 29,04,40,000 has been granted for the enhancement of the lake-bank area in Vaishali district. An initial installment of Rs. 12 crore has been sanctioned for withdrawal and expenditure during the 2024-25 financial year.

Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra emphasized the importance of Vaishali as a historical tourist destination. The Pushkarni lake is located near the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, which attracts visitors from across the country and abroad. Additionally, the nearby Samyak Stupa is nearing completion, which is expected to further boost tourism in the area. The development work aims to enhance the experience for tourists visiting the region.

The project includes site development, the construction of a restaurant and cafeteria, public facilities, shops, footpaths, and beautification of the pond using nano-bubble technology. Landscaping, water and electricity supply (MEP services), and the introduction of self-paddle boats are also part of the plan.

The Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has been designated as the executive agency for this project. Formal procedures are underway, and the scheme is expected to be completed within 24 months, significantly improving the infrastructure and facilities around the historic Pushkarni pond.
