Patna: Bihar is poised for significant economic growth with major investments in the food processing sector and initiatives to create employment opportunities. London Dairy, a premium ice cream brand, is planning to expand into the state, marking its entry with discussions already underway between its parent company, Alana Consumer Product Private Limited, and Bihar’s Industry Department. The brand, known for its premium ice cream and chocolates, is set to bring its metropolitan presence to Bihar.
In addition, Anand Dairy is preparing to establish a production unit in Bihar with an investment of ₹50 crore. The company has also engaged with the Industry Department to advance its plans.
Food processing giant Haldiram has commenced work on its unit in Motipur, which is expected to be operational by November this year. Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has also allocated land to a cattle feed manufacturing company, alongside receiving proposals from several other food processing firms interested in establishing units in the state.
Further diversification in the sector includes an investment of Rs25 crore by Madhubani Makhana Private Limited for a makhana (fox nut) processing unit, boosting Bihar’s agricultural output. Grouse and Grace Company has announced plans to invest ₹905 crore in fully automated poha production and biofuel facilities, further strengthening the state’s industrial landscape.
Meanwhile, employment initiatives are gaining momentum. Vision India Limited VSPL, a manpower services firm, created 51,457 job opportunities in the past year, including 12,864 positions for youths in Bihar. The organisation, which focuses on training and employing candidates from tier-2 and tier-3 cities as well as rural areas, has played a vital role in job creation across Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and other states.
Speaking about the company’s efforts, CEO Vivek Kumar, a Vaishali native, highlighted the success of the fourth edition of the Employ India Campaign. “Our aim is to provide meaningful employment to youths from underserved regions by equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in various sectors,” he said.
