Gates Foundation Team Visits Muzaffarpur to Witness JEEVIKA’s Grassroots Impact

Patna: A team from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) visited Muzaffarpur on Tuesday to witness the work being carried out by JEEVIKA Didis in rural Bihar. The visit aimed to assess the progress of community-led initiatives in areas such as seed production, drone operation, bag-making and sustainable agriculture.

The team began their tour at the Phulmala Cluster Level Federation in Bochahan where they learnt about the efforts of JEEVIKA Didis in health, nutrition and financial independence. They also saw the solar-powered irrigation system being used by JEEVIKA Didis to improve agricultural productivity.

At the Samarpan Seed Processing Unit, the delegation observed the seed production process and gained insights into local supply chains and agricultural advancements.

During their visit to the Bela Bag Cluster Unit, the team interacted with JEEVIKA Didis, learning about their entrepreneurial journeys and the role of self-help groups in improving livelihoods. They also explored the goat farming initiative where Didis are using scientific techniques to enhance productivity and financial sustainability.

The visit concluded with a meal at Didi ki Rasoi where the BMGF team enjoyed food prepared by JEEVIKA Didis.

The delegation praised the community-driven model and recognized its potential for scaling across other rural areas. The visit highlighted how JEEVIKA’s grassroots initiatives are empowering rural women through economic opportunities, skill development and financial inclusion.
