Patna: Ayan Khan, the only son of Bihar Congress Legislature Party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan, was laid to rest on Tuesday at Shah-e-Gaddi cemetery near Patna airport. His body was first taken to Haj Bhawan before being moved to the burial site.

A grief-stricken Shakeel Ahmed broke down upon meeting Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Singh. Bihar governor Arif Mohammad Khan was also present to offer condolences.

Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav expressed sorrow over the sudden death, calling it “extremely painful.” He said, “The entire RJD family stands with Shakeel Sahab’s family in this hour of grief.” A large number of people from Shakeel Ahmed’s constituency, Kadwa, attended the funeral.

Sister Arrives from England for Final Rites

Ayan’s elder sister, Zainab Khan, who is studying law in England, reached Patna on Tuesday morning after traveling via London and Delhi to attend her brother’s burial.

Ayan, a Class 12 student at Delhi Public School, was found hanging at his government residence in Gardanibagh on Monday. Police broke into his locked room and recovered the body. Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar visited the scene, and forensic teams collected samples. However, Ayan’s family refused to allow a postmortem examination.

Just weeks earlier, on January 18, Ayan had accompanied his father to Rahul Gandhi’s event in Patna, where he met the Congress leader and presented him with a painting. Gandhi had publicly praised Ayan’s artwork.
