Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took another swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during an election rally in Rajasthan’s Pilibanga on Monday. Without explicitly naming Nitish, Modi accused a chief minister from the “INDIA bloc” of using derogatory language against a former chief minister due to the latter’s humble background.
The Prime Minister appeared to be referring to Nitish’s recent verbal assault on former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi during the Bihar assembly’s winter session. Modi expressed disapproval, stating that the Nitish insulted Manjhi because he hailed from a very backward family, and the Congress failed to condemn the inappropriate behavior.
This marks the second instance where PM Modi has targeted Nitish at election rallies without directly mentioning his name. Earlier, during a rally in Madhya Pradesh, Modi criticized Nitish for his “population control” remarks in the state assembly, accusing the leader of the “INDIA bloc” of insulting India on the global stage.
During the Madhya Pradesh rally, PM Modi remarked on Nitish’s purported lack of shame, questioning whether politicians from the INDIA bloc would stoop so low.
Nitish had previously made controversial remarks in the state assembly regarding population control, using vivid language to illustrate the role of education in empowering women. While emphasizing the importance of education for women in controlling population growth, Nitish’s comments sparked criticism. He later apologized for his remarks, acknowledging their inappropriate nature.
