Exciting Performances Mark Second Day of Inter-College Sports and Cultural Competition at BAU Sabour

Sabour: The second day of the annual Inter-College Sports and Cultural Competition 2024–25 at Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, witnessed an electrifying display of sportsmanship and creativity. With students from all ten constituent colleges participating, the campus buzzed with competitive spirit, as records were set and celebrations filled the air.

The sporting events kicked off with the boys’ 200-metre race, where Gyan Bindu from Veer Kunwar Singh Agricultural College, Dumraon (Buxar) clinched the first position. Praful Kumar from Agricultural Biotechnology College, Sabour, secured second place, while Jainendra Kumar from Mandan Bharti Agricultural College, Agwanpur (Saharsa), finished third.

In the 200-metre race for girls, Ruby Kumari Rai, a postgraduate student from Bihar Agricultural College (BAC), Sabour, emerged victorious. Sandhya Kumari from Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, and Priya Bharti from Nalanda Horticulture College, Nalanda, took second and third place, respectively.

The boys’ 1500-metre race saw Aishwarya Kumar from BAC, secure the top spot, with Pratap Kumar from Agricultural Engineering College, Ara, and Nunu Kumar from Veer Kunwar Singh Agricultural College, Dumraon (Buxar), following in second and third place.

In the long jump, Abhishek Kumar, a postgraduate student from BAC, Sabour, won first place in the boys’ category. Krish Kumar from Bihar Forestry College and Research Institute, Munger, took second place, while Amit Kumar from Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, finished third.

Among the girls, Bhaavya Kumari from BAC, secured first place in the long jump event. Himani Kumari and Priyanshu Kumari, both from Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, finished second and third, respectively.

The boys’ high jump event saw Sandeep Kumar from BAC, claim victory. Krish Kumar from Bihar Forestry College and Research Institute, Munger, took second place, while Shubham Garnayak from Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, finished third.

In the girls’ high jump, Neha Kumari from Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, won first place, followed by Bhavya Kumari from Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour, in second and Ruby Kumari in third.

The javelin throw event also saw impressive performances. Rahul Kumar from Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College, Purnia, secured first place among the boys, followed by Jitendra Kumar from Mandan Bharti Agricultural College, Agwanpur (Saharsa), in second place and Rohan Pandey from Agricultural Biotechnology College, Sabour, in third.

For the girls, Sakshi Kumari from Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, claimed the top spot in the javelin throw. Pushpa Rani from Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College, Purnia, took second place, while Anjali Kumari from Mandan Bharti Agricultural College, Agwanpur, finished third.

Beyond athletics, the cultural segment of the competition added to the festive atmosphere, with students participating in painting, light vocal performances, poster making, group singing, rangoli, patriotic song presentations, and spot painting.

The event was meticulously organised under the supervision of Dr. J. N. Shrivastava, Director of Student Welfare, along with Amit Kumar, In-charge Officer for Sports at BAU Sabour. Dr. Yanendra Kumar Singh, Sports In-charge of BAC Sabour, Dr. Awadhesh Pal, Dr. Chandan Kishore, and various event coaches and committees ensured the smooth execution of competitions, adhering to regulations and maintaining the competitive spirit.
