Tragedy Strikes Chhath Festivities in Bihar: 13 Drown Across Seven Districts
Patna: Chhath festivities in Bihar took a tragic turn as a total of 13 individuals drowned in various water bodies across seven districts since Sunday, according to officials.
The heartbreaking incidents occurred in Patna, Khagaria, Samastipur, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Munger, and Begusarai, as detailed in a statement released by the Bihar Disaster Management Department (DMD) on Monday.
In Patna district, three individuals lost their lives in a pond in the Brahmpur area around 8:15 am. The DMD statement reported additional incidents, stating, “In Khagaria, three persons drowned in Chautham and Parbata areas in two separate incidents around 6:30 am on Monday. Besides, two persons each in Darbhanga and Samastipur districts and one each in Begusarai, Munger, and Saharsa districts died due to drowning since Sunday.”
