Madhepura District Magistrate’s Car Claims Three Lives in Madhubani
Patna: In a devastating incident on Tuesday morning, three individuals lost their lives, and two others sustained critical injuries when a speeding car, reportedly belonging to the Madhepura District Magistrate, struck them down in Madhubani district. The tragedy unfolded on National Highway number 57 at 8 a.m., leaving three dead on the scene and two in critical condition.
The fatal accident took place as the vehicle careened into the divider after hitting the victims. The police are currently probing whether the Madhepura District Magistrate was present in the car at the time of the incident. No comment has come so far from Madhepura DM regarding the incident.
The injured victims have been rushed to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for medical attention.
According to accounts from local villagers, the victims were pedestrians on the road when they were hit by the speeding vehicle associated with the Madhepura District Magistrate. The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Phulparas and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) promptly arrived at the scene, taking charge of the situation.
In the aftermath of the tragic incident, aggrieved villagers have taken to blocking the road, demanding accountability for the driver’s actions. Their grievances extend to calling for the implementation of service lanes on the stretch of National Highway 57 and seeking compensation for the families of the victims.
National Highway 57, a crucial route connecting Delhi to Siliguri via Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Darbhanga, and Purnia, lacks a service lane despite being a four-lane stretch.
