CIMP Hosts 3rd International Financial Management Conference on Sustainability and Investment

Patna: The Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) hosted the third International Financial Management Conference (IFMC) on Friday in a hybrid format, bringing together academics, researchers, and industry professionals to discuss the latest trends in responsible investment, micro enterprises, asset pricing, carbon trading, forensic accounting, and more.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by CIMP director Prof Dr Rana Singh, chief administrative officer Kumod Kumar, IFMC 2025 chairperson Prof Santosh Kumar, and convenor Prof Ranjit Tiwari. Prof Singh then delivered the welcome address, setting the stage for discussions on financial sustainability and emerging challenges in the field.

The conference featured keynote addresses from industry and academic experts. Som Sekhar Mishra, CEO of International Shipping and Logistics FZE (a Tata company), spoke about the environmental impact of the shipping industry and sustainable solutions. Prof Anju Singh of IIM Mumbai addressed environmental sustainability, while Prof Prashant Gupta of IIM Nagpur discussed sustainable finance and responsible investment.

Of the 33 research papers submitted, 27 were accepted, and 25 were presented across four parallel technical sessions. The sessions were chaired by professors from leading institutions, including TAPMI, SPJIMR, O.P. Jindal Global University, XIM University, IMI Kolkata, and CIMP. Scholars from 26 institutions, including IRMA, FLAME University, NIT Rourkela, BIT Mesra, XIME Bangalore, and Central University of Rajasthan, participated in the discussions.

The valedictory session featured a keynote speech by Govind Shanbogue, managing director at Santander Corporate and Investment Banking, UK, on impact investment. Ashish K Khatua, associate vice president at JSW Steel Ltd, delivered an address on sustainable finance. Prof Ranjit Tiwari concluded the session with a summary of key takeaways.

The best paper award was presented by Prof Singh to Gopala B of Alliance University for his research on Finance and Sustainability: A Framework for Responsible Investment. The second position went to Riny Raju and Dr Raju G of XIME Bangalore for their study on financing SMEs amid market volatility, while Faheema Mohammed Manu of Bharathiar University secured third place for her work on consumer perspectives on sustainable development and banking sustainability initiatives.

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof Santosh Kumar and the announcement of the fourth IFMC, scheduled for February 2026.
