Patna Lawyer Dies by Suicide in Rajiv Nagar Apartment

Patna: Rupesh Kumar, a 35-year-old High Court lawyer, died by suicide in his apartment in the Gandhinagar area of Rajiv agar. Kumar was found hanging in his flat at the Patliputra Heritage Apartment.

The incident occurred while Rupesh’s mother and sister were present in the apartment. When his sister became suspicious after he failed to open his door, she alerted neighbors. The Rajivnagar police were subsequently notified and arrived at the scene with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team. Upon breaking down the door, they discovered Rupesh’s body.

Rajiv Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) stated that the FSL team conducted an investigation at the scene. A suicide note was recovered from the room, in which Rupesh cited unbearable mental stress as the reason for his action, stating, “I am responsible for my own death. No one has a hand in this.” The police have seized the suicide note and Rupesh’s mobile phone.

According to reports, Rupesh married in 2022, but the couple separated shortly after due to irreconcilable differences. Police have questioned family members in connection with the incident. The SHO confirmed that a case of Unnatural Death (UD) has been registered.

Sources indicate that Rupesh often resided alone in the flat, while his mother and sister were only visiting for a few days. The exact motive behind the suicide remains unclear, and further investigation will be conducted based on the statements provided by his family.
