Patna: Bihar continues to experience dry weather as westerly winds keep temperatures above normal, leading to fluctuations in day and night temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Patna has forecast an approaching western disturbance that will affect mountainous regions on Monday.
According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation persists over Haryana and its surrounding areas. As a result, snowfall is expected in higher altitudes, while parts of the plains may witness light drizzle.
A shift in weather conditions is anticipated within the next 24 hours, as cold westerly winds from the mountains begin to influence Bihar’s climate. This is expected to bring a drop in minimum temperatures, increasing the chill during the morning and evening hours.
Meteorologist SK Patel attributed the lack of severe winter this season to weak western disturbances and minimal rainfall. Bihar has recorded a 99% deficit in rainfall from January 1 to February 16, contributing to fluctuating temperatures and persistent warmth.
Over the past 24 hours, 27 cities, including Patna, saw a rise in minimum temperatures. On Sunday, Patna recorded a minimum of 14.6°C, two degrees above normal, while Banka registered the lowest temperature in the state at 8.8°C. Minimum temperatures across Bihar ranged between 10°C and 16°C, whereas maximum temperatures remained above normal in most places.
Patna’s maximum temperature increased by 1.3 degrees to 28.4°C. Aurangabad and Bhojpur recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 29.6°C, further highlighting the unseasonal warmth gripping Bihar.
