Patna: In the wake of heavy surge of train passengers due to ongoing Kumbh Mela, Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, alongside East Central Railway General Manager Chhatrasal Singh, led a virtual meeting on Monday to discuss crowd management and travel logistics. The session, attended by senior police and administrative officials, aimed to address the expected influx of devotees traveling for the religious event.
Meena, who has been at the forefront of the state’s planning efforts, emphasized the importance of coordination between local law enforcement and railway authorities to ensure the safety and efficiency of travel during the event. He stressed the need for streamlined communication between Bihar’s district police forces and the railway district administration, particularly at the 35 major stations across the state.
Key measures outlined during the meeting include the deployment of district police forces at 26 stations under the jurisdiction of East Central Railway, the establishment of designated holding areas at major stations, and the provision of essential amenities for passengers, such as seating and adequate lighting. Information regarding train schedules will be regularly updated via loudspeakers to keep travelers informed.
Strict crowd control measures will be enforced, including ticket checks at the main station gates, and the prioritization of special trains to manage the surge in passenger numbers. These measures are expected to ease the pressure on Bihar’s railway system, ensuring that the thousands of devotees traveling to the Kumbh Mela will have a safe and orderly journey.
