Patna: Patna is witnessing a major urban transformation with key infrastructure projects aimed at addressing traffic congestion, parking challenges, and drainage issues. As part of the preparations for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra on February 21, District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh on Tuesday conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing projects, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar and Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar.
Focus on Drainage: Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri Nala Inspections
A crucial part of the review was the Rajiv Nagar Nala and Anandpuri Nala, where efforts are underway to improve drainage infrastructure. With Patna prone to waterlogging during monsoons, authorities are pushing for timely upgrades to enhance water flow and prevent flooding. The inspection aimed to ensure that ongoing work meets the required quality standards and deadlines.
Maurya Lok Multi-Level Car Parking to Ease Congestion
In a bid to ease the persistent parking woes in the city, officials also inspected the multi-level car parking facility in Maurya Lok, which is currently under construction. The facility, being developed by Patna Smart City Limited, will accommodate 156 cars using the advanced Dolly Shuttle System. Once operational, it is expected to significantly reduce on-street parking congestion in the busy commercial hub.
Kadamkuan Vending Zone to Provide Organised Space for Vendors
Patna’s street vendors are set to benefit from a new model vending zone in Kadamkuan, designed to provide structured and legally designated spaces for informal businesses. Spanning 22,000 square feet, the vending zone will house 200 vendors under one roof, ensuring better regulation and management of roadside businesses. Additionally, the facility will include an automated vehicle parking system for 300 bikes, helping to reduce encroachments and streamline pedestrian movement in the area.
District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh emphasized that these initiatives align with the State Government’s vision to enhance public convenience and urban aesthetics. Local authorities have been instructed to ensure swift execution and maintain open communication with residents for feedback and improvements.
