Patna: ICICI Lombard, a leading insurance provider, organized a ‘Ride to Safety’ rally as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Patna. The event, held under the patronage of notable dignitaries, aimed to raise awareness about road safety, particularly among two-wheeler owners with children riding as pillion passengers.

Chief Guest Sudhansu Kumar (IPS), ADG- Bihar Traffic Police, Puran Kumar Jha (IPS), SP- Patna Traffic Police, Mukesh Kumar, Special Secretary, Finance Department, and senior representatives from IRDAI, including Alok Agarwal, Executive Director of ICICI Lombard, alongside other senior management figures, flagged off the rally.

The ‘Ride to Safety’ rally saw the participation of approximately 500 children and their parents from nearby schools. Each participant was equipped with ISI marked helmets, and they were educated about the importance of adhering to basic safety rules, particularly the use of helmets. ICICI Lombard implemented a two-pronged strategy, focusing on instigating behavioral change through personalized direct contact programs and distributing child-specific ISI marked helmets to young riders.

Alok Agarwal, Executive Director of ICICI Lombard, emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing to road safety. The ‘Ride to Safety’ program, initiated in 2015, has impacted over 600,000 lives. The objective is to amplify road safety messaging and instill a behavioral shift among people in adopting safer road habits. The rally in Patna is viewed not just as a journey but as a commitment to safeguarding lives through the distribution of helmets to children, parents, and traffic police.

Agarwal expressed gratitude to the Bihar Traffic Police for their active support and cooperation in this endeavor. Since the inception of the program in September 2015, ICICI Lombard has touched the lives of approximately 600,000 individuals by promoting life-saving road safety rules and emphasizing the importance of motor insurance from an early age. As a significant milestone, the company has already distributed 297,000 ISI marked helmets to children and aims to distribute over 150,000 helmets in the current financial year.
