Patna: Patna District Magistrate, Dr Chandrashekhar Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Avkash Kumar, inspected the preparations for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s upcoming Pragati Yatra in Patna district, focusing on development projects in Barh subdivision. Accompanied by senior officials, they assessed progress and issued necessary instructions to ensure smooth execution.
The chief minister’s visit is scheduled for February 21, and officials reported that preparations are well underway. Development works in Umanath Temple and Bedhna Panchayat were reviewed, with Deputy Development Commissioner instructed to oversee the projects closely.
DM Singh inspected various locations in Barh, monitoring progress on government schemes and gathering feedback from local representatives and residents. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to executing development initiatives aligned with public needs and aspirations. Local officers have been directed to engage with communities regularly to address their concerns.
In Bedhna Panchayat, several projects were reviewed, including the construction of a Health and Wellness Centre, a waste processing unit, the renovation of the Panchayat Government Building, a library, a Sudha Kendra, a post office, and multiple community buildings. Water conservation efforts under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission, including pond renovations and fisheries schemes, were also inspected, with officials confirming their completion.
The administration is also working on a major development and beautification plan for the historic Umanath Temple in Barh. Proposed projects include a dedicated parking zone, riverfront park, Ganga ghat renovations, a four-storey community building, vending zones, improved cremation facilities, public toilets, changing rooms, drinking water stations, kiosks, and a registration counter. These works will be carried out by multiple government departments, including the Tourism and Urban Development and Housing Departments.
Dr Singh stated that past inspections had been conducted to ensure steady progress, with local officials directed to maintain oversight. Once completed, these projects are expected to significantly enhance public amenities. The Sub-Divisional Officer and Assistant Superintendent of Police, Barh, have been tasked with supervising implementation and managing traffic flow during the event.
