Three Killed, Four Injured as Devotees’ Vehicle Crashes Into Stationary Truck in Kaimur

Sasaram/ Patna: Three people were killed and four others seriously injured when a Scorpio carrying devotees returning from the Maha Kumbh collided with a stationary container truck in Kaimur on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred at 5:30 am near Chilbili in the Kudra police station area. Among the deceased was 50-year-old Mira Devi, wife of Narayan Mandal, from Etah village in Lakhisarai. The identities of the other two victims are yet to be confirmed.

The injured have been identified as Suchi Devi (55), wife of Subhash Kumar from Sikri village in Dhanbad; Mohammad Kaushal (52), a resident of Jamui; the Scorpio driver; Sudha Devi (35), wife of Ranjit Paswan from Sikri village in Dhanbad; and Soni Kumari (22), daughter of Narayan Mandal from Etah village in Lakhisarai.

Local residents alerted Kudra police and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) following the crash. The injured were initially taken to the Community Health Center in Kudra before being referred to Sadar Hospital, Bhabhua.

Gupteshwar Kumar, a PTC officer at Kudra police station, confirmed the incident, stating that the speeding Scorpio crashed into the rear of a parked container truck. “There were seven people in the vehicle, all returning after taking a holy dip at the Kumbh. When we arrived, one person was still trapped inside, while another had been thrown out of the vehicle due to the impact. Three people died on the spot,” he said.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
