Armed Miscreants Loot Rs 16 Lakh Worth of Jewellery in Siwan, Flee Under Villagers’ Resistance

Siwan: A daring robbery took place in Bhagwanpur village under Bhagwanpur Haat police station limits, where armed miscreants looted a jewellery shop, escaping with gold ornaments worth ₹16 lakh. The looted jewellery is estimated to weigh over 200 grams. However, the criminals were forced to abandon a sack full of jewellery after villagers resisted, pelting stones at them. In retaliation, the robbers fired shots in the air before fleeing the scene.

The entire crime was recorded on the shop’s CCTV cameras, providing a clear view of the masked robbers. Police are now analyzing the footage to track down the accused.

The victim, Achhelal Sah, runs a jewellery shop from his house in Bhagwanpur village. He noticed six masked men arriving on two bikes through his CCTV camera feed on Tuesday. Sensing trouble, he attempted to flee but was stopped by one of the robbers, who held a pistol to his temple and forced him back into the shop.

The gang quickly ransacked the shop, stuffing jewellery into a sack. Meanwhile, another group of miscreants arrived on a bike, ensuring a swift execution of their plan.

As the robbers attempted to escape, a crowd of villagers gathered, pelting stones at them. In the chaos, the criminals dropped the heavy sack of jewellery. Realizing they were cornered, they managed to grab a bundle of gold ornaments and fled while firing in the air to deter the crowd.

Upon receiving information, Bhagwanpur Haat police rushed to the scene. Station in-charge Sujit Kumar Chaudhary confirmed that a significant robbery had taken place, with a portion of the stolen jewellery recovered. “We are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the miscreants, and they will be arrested soon,” he assured.
