Patna: Bihar is set to experience rainfall over the next few days, with showers already hitting Patna on Saturday morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall warning for several districts, particularly in northeast, south-central, and southeast Bihar, as a western disturbance influences the region’s weather patterns.

According to IMD Patna, light rain and thunderstorms are likely in Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger, and Nawada today, with winds reaching speeds of 40 km/h in some areas. The IMD has advised residents to prepare for intermittent showers over the next few days, with the impact expected to last until March 5.

In north Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, the sky remained cloudy on Friday, and IMD has forecast thunderstorms and drizzle within the next 24 hours. The sudden change is attributed to moisture-laden westerly winds, which are expected to bring scattered rain across the state.

The maximum temperature in Bihar has slightly increased over the past 24 hours, with Aurangabad recording the highest at 30.9°C on Friday. However, the rainfall is expected to bring a temporary drop in daytime temperatures, offering relief from rising heat.

Farmers in Siwan and other agricultural districts are closely monitoring the situation, as unseasonal rain could impact standing wheat crops. District Agriculture Officer Alok Kumar warned that further rainfall may lead to productivity losses, especially with wheat already affected by warmer winter temperatures.
