Patna: Former Bihar minister and BJP’s current working president, Dilip Jaiswal, is set to formally take charge as the state president of the party on March 4. The event, expected to be attended by 15,000 BJP workers, will be held in the presence of Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde and co-in-charge Deepak Prakash.
Jaiswal submitted his nomination papers to state election observer Rajesh Kumar Verma on Monday. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Assembly Speaker Vijay Sinha, and Health Minister Mangal Pandey.
Resignation Ahead of Cabinet Expansion
Jaiswal resigned as Revenue and Land Reforms Minister on February 26, ahead of the Nitish Kumar cabinet expansion, adhering to the party’s “one person, one post” principle.
According to party sources, Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who has been appointed in charge of the State BJP Council, will attend the State Council meeting at Bapu Auditorium on March 4, along with Tawde and Prakash.
Strategic Planning for 2024 Elections
Jaiswal, who took over as BJP’s working president in July 2024, is expected to announce a new party committee soon after assuming charge. In a recent State Council meeting, senior BJP leaders emphasized the need for the party and government to work in tandem in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
The meeting also reviewed the district-wise NDA conferences, which have been completed, and decided to begin assembly-wise conferences to strengthen the party’s grassroots outreach. Party leaders reiterated their focus on communicating state and central government schemes effectively to the people.
