Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar handed over appointment letters to more than 51,000 school teachers in a ceremony at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, on Sunday, marking a significant employment drive ahead of Holi. The event, part of the third phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), saw thousands of newly appointed teachers receive their provisional joining letters.
Speaking at the ceremony, CM Nitish reaffirmed his commitment to improving education in the state. “I have full faith in our teachers. They will educate children in the best possible manner,” he said, instructing officials to ensure that teachers face no difficulties in their new roles. He also announced that appointment letters for an additional 42,000 professors and head teachers would be distributed next month.
Statewide Recruitment Effort
During the event, appointment letters were distributed to 10,739 candidates from eight districts, including Patna, Bhojpur, Jehanabad, Arwal, Saran, Vaishali, and Muzaffarpur. Meanwhile, candidates from the remaining 30 districts received their letters at separate events held in their respective district headquarters.
CM Nitish highlighted his government’s increased budgetary allocation for education, promising further financial support to strengthen the sector. The ceremony was inaugurated by the chief minister with a traditional lamp-lighting ritual, following which appointment letters were formally distributed to the selected candidates.
‘Historic’ Employment Drive
Bihar’s Education Minister Sunil Kumar noted that the number of teachers in government schools had now crossed six lakh, with infrastructural improvements also being made. Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary urged the newly appointed teachers to work diligently, stating, “The government has fulfilled your dreams, and now it is your responsibility to fulfill Nitish Kumar’s vision.”
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described the mass recruitment as a historic milestone, claiming that no other chief minister in the country had undertaken such an initiative. “Nitish Kumar has announced 50 lakh government jobs and employment opportunities—this is truly unprecedented,” he said.
