Patna : Indian Railways has announced a series of special trains from Bihar to key cities across India to accommodate the large number of migrant workers returning to work after Holi. With an overwhelming rush at railway stations, these additional services are expected to ease the pressure on regular trains.
Every year, thousands of people travel from major metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata to their hometowns in Bihar to celebrate Holi with their families. As the festival concludes, the return journey becomes a challenge due to heavy demand for train tickets. To address this, the railways have introduced multiple special trains, operating on select dates in March.
Key Special Train Services
Patna to Hyderabad (Charlapalli): Train number 03253 will depart from Patna on March 17 and 28 at 3 pm, reaching Charlapalli in Hyderabad at 3:30 am on the third day.
Darbhanga to Daurai (Ajmer): Train 05273 will run on March 22 and 29, leaving Darbhanga at 1:15 pm and arriving in Daurai at 10:30 pm the next day. The return journey from Daurai is scheduled for March 20 and 30 at 11:45 pm, reaching Darbhanga at 6:50 am on the third day.
Bikaner to Guwahati: Train 04723 will depart Bikaner on March 15 and 22 at 5:30 am, halting at Patliputra station at 8:55 am the next day, and reaching Guwahati at 3:40 am on the third day. The return service, train 04724, will leave Guwahati on March 17 and 24 at 8:30 pm, stopping at Patliputra at 1:10 pm the next day, before reaching Bikaner at 5:50 pm on the third day.
Saharsa to Amritsar: Train 05507 will depart Saharsa on March 16 at 7 pm, arriving in Amritsar at 2:15 am the next day. The return service will leave Amritsar on March 18 at 4 am, reaching Saharsa at 11:45 am the next day.
Additional Services on the Patna-Gaya Route
To further facilitate local travel, the railways have also introduced special passenger trains between Patna and Gaya, running until March 31.
From Patna to Gaya, trains will be available at 10:30 am and 6:10 pm daily.
From Gaya to Patna, departures are scheduled for 7:10 am and 2:10 pm.
