SAHARSA – A distressing incident occurred near Saharsa station on Tuesday evening around 6 PM when stones were hurled at a passenger train, leaving numerous passengers wounded. The incident took place merely a kilometer away from Jhapra Tola, in proximity to Saharsa station.

According to the reports, the Saharsa-Purnia passenger train, departing from platform number one of Saharsa station, had just commenced its journey around half-past six in the evening when the incident unfolded near railway barrier number 106. As the train’s windows were opened shortly after departure, stones were thrown at the train, causing injuries to several passengers.

Narrating the event, a passenger mentioned that the stones were thrown at such velocity that before anyone could realize it, several passengers were already injured. Despite the unsettling occurrence, the train continued its journey. Fortunately, those passengers who were wearing warm clothes, such as sweaters, managed to escape with minor injuries.

Upon the train’s arrival at the Karuhar railway halt ahead, passengers immediately lodged complaints, prompting the guard and others to administer initial first aid using a first aid kit. Subsequently, the train continued its journey forward. It is yet to be confirmed whether the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was deployed on duty within the Saharsa-Purnia passenger train.

Reports suggest that the stone-pelting might have been initiated by children along the railway tracks. It is worth noting that a similar incident occurred two days earlier between the Kosi Express train journeying from Mokama to Saharsa, where mischievous individuals pelted stones at the train, resulting in injuries to a few passengers.
