Police Attacked Again in Munger as Mob Violence Escalates

Munger / Patna : A fresh wave of violence against police officers has erupted in Munger district, where a constable sustained a serious head injury after being attacked by a mob. This comes just days after an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was killed in a similar assault.
The latest incident took place in Faizabad, within the Haveli Kharagpur area, when a police team responding to an emergency call was confronted by an agitated crowd. According to reports, villagers had apprehended two individuals accused of snatching and locked them inside the local Panchayat Bhawan. When the Dial 112 police team arrived to take the suspects into custody, tensions flared.
As officers attempted to transfer the accused to the police station, an argument broke out between the police and the gathered villagers. The situation quickly escalated, with the crowd demanding an immediate decision on the matter rather than allowing the suspects to be taken away. Amid the commotion, someone hurled a stone at the officers, fracturing a constable’s head. Soon after, others in the mob joined in, pelting stones at the police team.
Several officers were injured in the attack, though they managed to escort the suspects away from the scene.
This incident follows the murder of an ASI in Munger just days earlier. The officer was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon, underscoring a growing trend of violence against law enforcement in Bihar.
