Jaipur/ Patna: CCS National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (CCS NIAM), Jaipur, hosted the Selection and Investment Committee (SIC) meeting on March 18 and 19, evaluating innovative agricultural startups for investment and incubation support. The event marked a milestone in the institute’s innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives, as the highest-ever grant of Rs 201 lakh was sanctioned to Subgris, a startup incubated at Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour.
Industry Experts Assess Startups for Investment
The SIC meeting brought together industry veterans and agricultural experts, including K.V. Iyer, an academician and industry expert; Dr. Sridhar R., SIC chairman; Volti, MD & CEO of Indras Pvt. Ltd.; Dr. A.S. Rao, former director of CIIE and innovation expert; Dr. Ravi Goyal, COO & director of CCS NIAM’s Section 8 Company; Dr. Manish Kumar Goyal, dean at IIT Indore; and Ravi Mathur, vice president of Rajasthan Venture Capital Fund. The committee conducted a detailed evaluation of the startups, assessing their market potential, innovation capabilities, and competitiveness. Discussions focused on investment strategies, market linkages, and policy frameworks to support sustainable agricultural development.
SABAGRIs Startups Impress With Innovation
A key highlight of the event was the presentation by Sabour Agri Incubators (SABAGRIs) from BAU, Sabour. A total of 41 startups showcased their innovations across areas such as precision farming, post-harvest technology, agri-supply chain management, waste-to-wealth models, and animal husbandry. The startups outlined strategies for business expansion, technological advancements, and market linkages aimed at boosting farmers’ income and agricultural productivity.
Funding and Strategic Support for Startups
Following rigorous evaluations, the expert committee recommended financial support for the startups under the Startup Agri-Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (SAIP). The funding is expected to enhance technological development, market outreach, and business scalability. The investment will not only help startups expand but also generate employment in the agriculture sector.
Dr. D.R. Singh, vice-chancellor of BAU, Sabour, hailed the initiative, stating: “The success of SABAGRIs startups highlights the strength of our institutional ecosystem and the entrepreneurial spirit of young innovators. With support from CCS NIAM and strategic investment under SAIP, these startups will drive agricultural transformation, job creation, and sectoral growth.”
Dr. Anil Kumar Singh, director of research at BAU and nodal officer of SABAGRIs, added: “The innovative solutions presented by SABAGRIs startups address critical agricultural challenges. This collaboration with CCS NIAM and the financial backing from SAIP will unlock new avenues for value addition, market expansion, and rural development.”
