New Delhi/Patna: Bihar Diwas is being celebrated across 10 cities in India from March 22 to 24, with the Bihar Foundation organizing grand events to showcase the state’s cultural heritage. The celebrations, held in major cities including Mumbai, Surat, Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Siliguri, Sikkim, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru, mark an extensive outreach to connect with Bihari communities across the country.
The first leg of the celebrations took place on Saturday in Guwahati, Siliguri, Sikkim, and Chandigarh, where folk music and dance performances captivated audiences. The events featured exhibitions and sales of Bihar’s traditional art and handicrafts, drawing participation from senior officials, expatriate Biharis, local residents, and dignitaries. The programme provided a nostalgic and memorable experience for Biharis living outside the state.
At the Bihar government’s official Bihar Diwas event at Delhi Haat, INA, the Bihar Foundation was also represented, with resident commissioner and CEO Kundan Kumar urging migrant Biharis to actively engage in the state’s development. “Bihar Foundation calls upon all migrant Biharis to connect with Bihar with the mantra of ‘Bonding, Branding, and Business.’ Let us work together to create new opportunities for mutual growth and strengthen our bond with our home state,” he said.
The celebrations will continue in Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru on March 23, followed by Surat on March 24, extending Bihar’s cultural presence from the northeast to the west of India.
The Bihar Foundation, a registered society under the Department of Industries, aims to foster an emotional and economic connection between the Bihari diaspora and their home state. With 30 chapters—16 abroad and 14 in India—the foundation plays a key role in promoting Bihar’s positive image and evolving industrial landscape.
