HAJIPUR -In the Axis Bank robbery case, police have arrested an accused from Delhi. The arrested suspect, identified as Mani Kumar from Motipur police station in Muzaffarpur, was on the run after a loot of around 98 lakh rupees on August 1.

According to police, Mani revealed that there is a gang of criminals operating in the areas of Muzaffarpur and East Champaran, consisting of about a dozen members. After committing the robbery, he had fled to Nepal for almost two months before returning to Delhi and joining as a security guard at a cafe.

The Special Task Force (STF) conducted raids in several parks based on information that the accused was hiding near the Red Fort in Delhi. However, they couldn’t locate Mani Kumar. Later, the police traced him to a cafe where, in his new role as a guard, he had recently joined duty. Upon questioning the cafe manager, it was revealed that Mani had arrived from Muzaffarpur about 10 days ago and had taken up a new job there.

During the police interrogation at the cafe, Mani initially resisted revealing information, but eventually admitted his involvement in the bank robbery. He disclosed that after the incident, he went to Nepal and returned to Delhi after staying there for about two months, taking up the job as a security guard. The loot of approximately Rs 98 lakhs took place in broad daylight at the Axis Bank in Lal Ganj police station area on August 1.

The police had earlier arrested his accomplices, including a security guard who had purchased land with the stolen money, and recovered 15 lakh rupees from the loot.
