Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on his third visit to Bihar this year on June 20, ahead of the crucial Assembly elections slated for October-November. BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal announced that the Prime Minister will address a public meeting in Siwan and is expected to unveil a significant development package for the state.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming on a Bihar tour on June 20. PM will address a public meeting in Siwan and will also give a big gift to Bihar. Preparations have started at the party level for his rally,” stated Dr. Dilip Jaiswal.
Pre-Election Blitz: A Series of High-Profile Visits
This upcoming visit underscores the BJP’s intensified focus on Bihar as the state prepares for its legislative elections. Prime Minister Modi’s previous two visits to the state in recent months have already set a high-octane tone.
His most recent trip was a two-day visit on May 29 and 30. On May 29, he inaugurated the new terminal building of Patna airport and laid the foundation stone for the Bihta airport. This was followed by a massive roadshow from the airport to the Patna BJP office, drawing large crowds. The next day, May 30, the Prime Minister traveled to Rohtas, where he addressed a significant rally in Bikramganj.
Earlier, on April 24, Prime Minister Modi visited Bihar’s Madhubani district. During his address there, he had strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, issuing a stern warning to Pakistan and asserting that terrorists would face unprecedented punishment.
Sampoorna Kranti Diwas: A Political Reminder
Coinciding with this announcement, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal also highlighted the significance of Sampoorna Kranti Diwas (Total Revolution Day), which falls on June 5. He recalled that it was on this day that Jayaprakash Narayan initiated the Sampoorna Kranti movement, a nationwide agitation against what he termed the “autocratic rule” of Indira Gandhi.
Jaiswal used the occasion to critique the Congress, stating, “Today we are remembering this day and are also trying to tell the people of Bihar how many times Emergency was imposed during the autocratic rule of Indira Gandhi.” He added, “The people of Congress still carry the Constitution in their hands but Indira Gandhi was the first one to end the Constitution, the people of the country can never forget this.”
