Patna: The long-awaited construction of an underground drain and a two-lane road over the Anandpuri drain is set to begin soon, bringing relief to nearly three lakh residents. Budko has issued a tender for this Rs 91.27 crore project, which includes a 4.05 km long drain renovation and a 12-meter-wide road. The work is expected to start next month and will be completed within one and a half years.

The Anandpuri drain, which will be covered as part of the project, has a width ranging from 3 to 4.5 meters and a depth of 2.5 to 3.5 meters. The two-lane road will be built from Baba Chowk to Rajapur Bridge, covering key areas such as Patel Nagar, Atal Path, Pataliputra Colony, North Shri Krishnapuri, Kasturba Path, and Mainpura Digha Diara. The construction is expected to provide an alternative route for commuters and improve drainage in the region.

To ensure smooth execution, the project has been divided into different catchments, covering wards 4, 8, 22, and 23. The first phase will involve the construction of a 1.08 km stretch from Baba Chowk to Atal Path. The second phase will cover a 1.17 km stretch from Atal Chowk to AN College. The final phase will extend 1.25 km from Hanuman Temple in Indrasen Path to Rajapur Bridge.

Upon completion, the underground drain and road will not only enhance connectivity but also prevent waterlogging issues in several densely populated areas. The project is expected to significantly improve the living conditions of residents and provide a better alternative route for commuters across the city.
