Patna: Consumers in Bihar who pay their electricity bills on time are being honoured with certificates in a move aimed at encouraging prompt payments and strengthening the state’s power distribution system. The initiative, launched by the state’s electricity distribution company, seeks to reward responsible consumers while motivating others to follow suit.
More than 100 consumers across Supaul, Saharsa, Darbhanga, and Motihari in north Bihar have already received recognition. The honoured consumers belong to domestic, commercial, and industrial categories, having consistently cleared their bills on time.
Officials said the initiative has not only boosted the morale of punctual payers but also set an example for others. Regular payments ensure uninterrupted electricity supply and help consumers avoid late fees, making the system more efficient. The scheme will continue in the future to increase awareness and further strengthen Bihar’s power distribution network.
The state is also promoting digital payments to simplify the bill settlement process. Additionally, electricity department officers and employees who have performed well in revenue collection during the financial year 2024-25 will be recognised for their efforts.
